Bumps and Bruises

On Saturday while I was bike riding with a friend, Abby fell off the piano bench and hit her head on the corner of the piano. John had to take Abby to Urgent Care where three people held her down and the doctor fixed her up with some Dermabond (glue). She screamed the entire time until I got there. I got there when it was all over so we just needed to fill out paperwork and go home but Abby would not let go of me. She snuggled right in and stopped crying. Poor John! Here is a picture of Abby's head with some blood still in her hair. Of course she laughing and smiling for the camera.

In this picture Abby is covering all the blood on John's shirt.

Remember how my camera broke? Well the above pictures are from a friends camera and the ones below are from mine. It worked for a day then quit again. I definitely need to go shopping soon! Here is Abby taking a picture of herself today.

Saturday night, Abby scratched her nose. It's perfect line all the way down. Poor girl is just all beaten up!

Here is a little video of Abby and you can see all her ouchies. John and I still went wakeboarding on Saturday after her accident. Once we got home she started running around and climbing on everything so we told the babysitter it was a go. It seems like it never happened!

As an update, Abby now has 16 teeth and is talking up a storm. She says over 20 words and has 3 phrases. Her favorite is "I want more". She just loves her food and drinks! At her 18 month check up she weighed 23 lbs and was 32" long. The doctor said she looks perfect and couldn't be doing any better. That's my girl!

Broken Camera

So in May when we went to San Diego, some sand on the camera. It has been temperamental since then and for the last 2 weeks, the lens will not come out. I think it has finally told me to get it fixed or buy a new one. So what would you say? Is it worth it to get the camera fixed (economical) or just buy a new one? I'm so bummed because there have been so many picture moments with Abby. I'll just give an Abby update with no pictures (boooo).

Abby is just full of personality and doing new things everyday. She says around 15 words now (which you can really understand) and is getting 2 more bottom teeth. I bought the leapster ABC thing for the fridge and she LOVES it. Abby can now "sing" the ABC's through P. When I say she sings the ABC's I mean she gets the tune perfect. She even gets the vowel sounds right but no real consonance sounds. I need to get it on video and post it here but she breaks into song so randomly. Abby has been battling the 2 naps everyday and is now officially down to 1 nap a day. She will sleep from 7pm-8am though so that makes our nights and mornings great!

I bought Abby arm floaties for in the pool. She thinks she is the coolest thing ever now. She will jump right in and "swim" around with her floaties on. She will be in 4 feet of water and not want me to be with her. Abby kicks her legs while I hold her belly up to go back to the steps or she will just put her head back and float on her back for a while. She never ceases to amaze me.

Abby has turned into a great kisser. She gives me kisses and hugs for no reason. When she is naughty and knows it, she comes to me with a kiss and hug as if to say "Sorry". Disciplining Abby is hard right now because she is so close to understanding everything but still isn't quite there yet. When we raise our voices at her it hurts her feelings more than a little pat on the bum. She will start crying and run to me or John for a hug.

An update on me.... I have a new church calling. I was released from Relief Society Secretary to be in the Junior Nursery! I am both happy and sad at the same time. Abby comes to nursery with me and has the best time. She doesn't even get jealous when other kids sit on my lap or I hold them. The toys are too fun to care about Mom. If another kid pushes or hits her she acts like "okay, whatever" and just goes about something else. She is so good to not push or hit back. Abby is so loving and sweet that she tries to hug all her friends in nursery but most of the time they just push her away while she's trying to hold on. It is the cutest thing. Hopefully I will have some pictures to come in the future!

Summer Festivities!

Two weeks ago, John and I went with some friends to Aquapalooza on Lake Travis. It is a concert on the water with bands playing all day. The big artist was Brad Paisley. It was awesome!! We parked far away and played in the water for a few hours. Then we caught a ferry in to watch him play. There was a little space to watch on the land but then there were people in the water and on their boats watching. It was so much fun!! Here is a picture from Aquapalooza last year. This year was the biggest event with the most boats and people.

Here are the girls! Bree, Brandilynn, Nina, Christy.

Abby and I went to the pool a while ago but unfortunately she got her first sunburn! I sunscreened her everywhere but her face! I felt so bad but she didn't complain and kept trying to eat the aloe vera I put on her face.

Abby is starting to love having her hair done. She makes a fuss while I'm doing it but once I finish and show her what she looks like in the mirror, she loves it! Today I told Abby her hair was so pretty and she said "Ditty!" for pretty.

Last Saturday, John and I played in a kickball tournament! We haven't played kickball in forever and a friend of ours thought it would be fun to play just for one day. We played with a total of 5 couples and did very well! There were 13 teams in the tournament and they were all teams who have experience. We made it to the quarter finals and everyone was shocked and amazed at how well we did. We were invited to a couple of leagues. Here we are before our first game lounging and getting ready to play!

This is us after the last game! Left to right: Berretts, Brosies, Brosies, VanDerwerkens, Dentons

Here are the girls! Afton, Nina, Bree, April, Christy

After we finished, the team got together and swam. Abby loves water. She could be in the pool all day! We were packing up to leave (Abby had her onsie and shoes on) when Abby slides in to the water (in a 4 foot area) and smiles up at me while she's clinging to the edge with the water right up to her neck! That munchkin is so fast and has no fear! She gave us quite a scare!
Abby is smiling for pictures now. What a ham. Today we got home from shopping and it was sunny. Abby was playing in the driveway when a cloud passed over and it started to pour! I snapped this picture then grabbed her before she could get seriously wet.

So far Summer has been so much fun but soooooo hot! Abby loves to say Hot. When we get in the car she says "hot" or when she's about to eat her food she says "hot". What a smart little girl!

Summer Days!

For the 4th of July we had a party at our house with lots of friends. We actually celebrated on the 3rd and watched fireworks later that night. We barbequed and played games with the Portugals, Gonzales, Rowles, Petersons and Brysons. Here we are hanging out in the backyard.

The kids played Red Rover and Abby had so much fun running around. We also had an adult Wheelbarrow race. Unfortunately I have no pictures of that.

Abby was in heaven playing with all the kids.

Abby loves wearing daddy's hats!

Last week, we went to a Round Rock Express games with the Jensens. Abby loved watching all the people and eating nachos with me.

Abby loves to wear my sunglasses. She is such a nut!

This summer has been so fun and busy. We are constantly playing with friends, going to the pool, and having fun together!

Utah Trip

Abby and I went to Utah from June 15th to June 22nd. I was invited to run the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay so I jumped at the chance to have an excuse to go visit family! I flew out with my friend Leilani (thank you Leilani for saving me on the plane rides!) and Abby but unfortunately we had over 2 hours of delays! I won't go into it but Abby had 2 melt downs and didn't fall asleep until 1:15am Texas time. I stayed with Wendy and Aaron for the first part of my visit and Abby had so much fun getting to know her cousins. Here are some pictures describing my trip!

Ashley Horlacher came to see me on Wednesday with her little boy Maddox. He is 3 months older than Abby and my first time to see him! They were so cute together! Here they are sizing each other up at the Zoo!

Abby and I rode the tram to see all the fun animals.

The kids played and had no problem climbing over each other. Abby can hold her own!

Ashley, Maddox, Me and Abby

On Thursday, Wendy drove me to Logan with all the kids to Aaron and Kenzie's house. Us women went to the Downeast Outfitters tent sale. I got 5 shirts and a purse for 24 dollars! We all ate watermelon and ran around having fun. Abby loves watermelon as you can tell from the following pictures.

Barnes followed Abby around the entire time. It was so cute! He was at her crib the minute she woke up from her nap and said "Hi!"

I love this picture with the juice dripping off her chin!

The following morning, Aaron drove me to the start of the Wasatch Back which happened to start at his work. He gave me a quick walk through of his building/factory and hung out while we waited for the start. There I met the girls I'd be with for the next 30hrs and 51mins. We had so much fun! Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the whole group but here I am by the van with my number in Park City at the finish line. I was runner #5 and ran 3 legs totally 14.6 miles. My first run was 7.4 miles uphill but I killed it! It was easier than I thought it would be. The hardest run was my final leg of 3 miles! I was just too tired!

After the race, Julie and Spence picked me up in Park City. Abby and Maddux got along so well. He is pretty quiet so Abby seemed ridiculously loud compared to him! Here they are in the tub playing with the water and drinking from their New York cups.

They played together on the playground and followed each other around.

Christina had her baby James the day we left. Abby said "baby" for the first time when she saw her cousin. I let her hold him and she kept petting, hugging and rocking him. It was so cute!

Our final stop was the Haleuas. Blake is 1 month younger than Abby and as you can see he is already eating out of her hand! They were very fun together.

Christy, Abby, Blake and Jackie.

Thank you everyone for making for Utah trip so fun! We hope to see you all again soon!

Hi?

If you ever get a phone call from me or John and no one responds, now you know why. Abby loves talking on the phone. I don't know how many people she has actually called but she's a pro at hitting redial. Abby chats away and even pauses for a response. The funny thing is she won't talk if there is actually a person talking back to her. She will just smile or hand the phone to me. What a nut!

Abby's 1st Haircut!

Abby got her first haircut on May 24th. Her hair is below her shoulders so we thought it was time to get it trimmed since her ends weren't very even. Our friend Christine Mead came over and cut Abby's hair real quick while she had a KitKat in each hand. Abby was so good and just sat on her chair eating her chocolate. Here are a few pictures.
