Katie's 6 Months!

Right before Christmas, Katie became six months! It has flown by and I can't believe she is so big already. She weighs 14lbs. 13oz. and is 24.5 inches long. She is so delicious. Katie loves to smile, laugh, eat and talk. She loves to be hung upside-down and tickled. She watches Abby eat and tries to steal her snacks. That has been her motivation to start crawling! As seen in a video below, Katie has been getting on her hands and knees trying to move forward. She can do an army crawl but hasn't quite figured out what to do with her hands when she is on her hands and knees. I'm sure she will get it soon. She is sitting up on her own until she leans too far forward or back. Also, Katie loves to use her voice. See the video below to see her new favorite trick. Abby can do almost anything to Katie and she will be so happy with the attention. Abby put dress up shoes on Katie and she loved it! Then she tried to eat them. The only downside is Katie still needs to be put to sleep. She hasn't found a self soothing method yet so she still needs her binkie and be held to go to sleep. She is still waking up in the early morning sometime between 5-6:30 and then going right back to sleep once I put her binkie back in her mouth. I'm hoping she kicks that habit soon. I can't help but baby her because she seems so small compared to Abby! I just love to kiss her chubby cheeks and feel her little hands around my neck when she's on my hip. Whenever she wakes up or comes back to me after being held by someone else, she grabs my face and gives me kisses. Katie is such a mama's girl! We are so glad she is in our family!

Christmas Day

Abby was so excited when she woke up! She wanted to put on a pretty red dress before coming downstairs to see what Santa got her. So while John was getting her ready, I got the video camera ready and took some pictures.

Abby was so excited! She grabbed her stocking and just kept pulling things out. So many princess gifts! Abby got a HUGE Tinkerbell pillow and a bowling set from Santa. She loves it!

Katie loved all her presents too... FOOD!! She's my good eater!

Katie also got sippy cups and a ring thingy from Santa.

Grandma Quiggle gave us a cute outfit for Katie with sweet ruffles on the bum.

Katie was all smiles for us on Christmas.

Abby loved all her presents!

Trying on all her new princess dresses.

Katie kept trying to put the wrapping paper in her mouth but she did open her presents!

Abby's stash

We then went to 1 hour of church and the VanDerwerkens and the Stevensons came over for Brunch at our house. I made a Ham, Farmers Stratta and had lots of fruit and juice. It was so yummy. After naps, we went to Grandma and Grandpa VanDerwerkens house for dinner. Brian made delicious enchiladas and we had rice, pico, salad, and tres leches cake for dessert. We also took family pictures. John posed for us so we would know where to put the cameras.

Here is one of the family pictures. Not bad for inside with no flash and a timer.

We tried to get the kids but they kept moving!

We had such a nice evening and went home stuffed and tired! Merry Christmas!

Christmas Events

On December 22nd, Mike and Tina had a party at their house. We had a delicious catered Italian dinner, then had a candy bar exchange. Katie got passed around that night but here is a picture of her with John's uncle, John.

On Christmas Eve, we first went to the Stevenson's house and had a wonderful dinner and fun with their family, then went to Aunt Debbie's in Schoharie to see the VanDerwerken clan. Abby loves her cousin Sophia and they couldn't be separated that night.

Katie was again passed around the family.

There are family talent shows and the Paul VanDerwerken family did a puppet show.

We got out of a talent show because we were late but Abby did dance while we sang Christmas carols.

Katie is definitely a Mama's girl.

Singing Christmas Carols

Katie sat so nicely with Grandma and Christmas for a while.

John was a little spoiled and got a back scratch.

After almost everyone left, we got the girls dressed for bed and opened one Christmas present.

It was a book from Grandma and Grandpa Quiggle!

It's an ABC book for Church with all gospel topics. Abby loves it!

Then we left for home and the girls fell asleep so Santa could come!
