California Trip

The girls and I went to San Diego from March 26th through April 9th. They did rather well on the plane ride both ways so I was very happy about that! When we went outside, Abby looked at the palm trees and said, "Those are funny trees. I don't think they are done growing all their leaves." She is too funny! I obviously need to get out to San Diego more often. The first thing we did was go shopping for bathing suits! The girls also had to get sunglasses so here they are looking like Cali girls!

They also liked seeing what I looked like growing up. Abby didn't quite realize I was little once.
We had fun going to Poway Lake and feeding the ducks and these crazy looking birds. Their feet are the craziest looking things.
At first Katie was scared but then she warmed up and birds were grabbing the bread out of her hands.

Abby LOVED Grandma and Grandpa's pool. It was heated to 85 degrees and of course the spa was heated to a nice 98 degrees. After being in the spa, Abby didn't want to play in the pool.
Katie discovered the DVD's and we had to bungee cord it shut so she didn't open them all the time.
Unfortunately it was cloudy at the beach one of the days we went. Katie snuggled with me the entire time and wouldn't get off the towel to play in the sand. She takes after Abby that way.

Abby played in the sand with Jocelin but notice she is still sitting on the edge of the blanket.

Abby and Damon got along really well. They played and laughed in the frigid water.

We dyed Easter Eggs and eat them later that week. Abby didn't want to stop and decided that she actually likes eating hard boiled eggs. Katie felt the same way.

On Friday night I organized a girls night to see a movie. Laura and LuAnn Preston and Kaisi and Sister Grow came with me, Stacy, my mom, and some of Stacy's friends. It was so much fun. I also hungout with Kaisi and Laura more throughout the next week. Our girls had fun playing and it was nice to talk to an old friend and a more recent friend.
On Saturday morning, there was an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids at one of the City Parks. Abby was so excited to do everything there.

Her and Damon made out like bandits and collected so many eggs.
They had a little pool for the little ones to pick some eggs out of. I had to drag Katie away she loved it so much.

She got her face painted like a cat.

 They blew lots of bubbles.

Snuggled with Grandma after eating popcorn and some goodies from their eggs. They also bounced in a bounce house and tossed bean bags through holes.

They loved the cotton candy. There were crafts that we made and Abby got her sprayed with glitter. She thought she was the luckiest thing to do all these things. We had such a fun time with our cousins!

It took a while to get Katie in the pool but once we did she loved it. She ran around the spa and would dip her mouth under. She thought she was very brave doing that!
Abby quickly learned the art of lounging in the sun and eating snacks.

Katie found the idea rather intriguing as well.
They played in the playhouse everyday. Grandma would go outside with them every morning because it was the first thing they wanted to do. I guess my decision is made to build a playhouse! Easter morning rolled around and the Easter Bunny found us!
Katie loved the Jelly Bean poop trail and we couldn't go downstairs until every Jelly Bean was picked up.

Grandpa let the girls use his shirt as a bowl until we got downstairs.

Katie wasn't too interested in her Easter basket until I started pulling things out to show her.

She then got cozy on Grandma's lap and wouldn't stop eating Jelly Beans.

The girls wore matching Easter Dresses to church but Katie refused to let me take pictures of them together. I couldn't even get a picture of her facing me.

They loved picking flowers around the pool.

My first pregnancy picture! I was on the phone with Julie and she wanted to see if I was showing yet. Here I am at 18 weeks pregnant. I felt the baby move for the first time on March 28th while in San Diego. I was lying in bed and felt her kick. We have since had an ultrasound and know that we are having baby girl #3! I am so excited and John is resigned to being the only boy in the household. Abby can't wait to hold her sister. She is so excited and Katie has no idea what is going to hit her!
We had Easter dinner at Aunt Friday's house and there was an Easter Egg Hunt for all the kids.
Abby ran around with the boys while...
 Grandma helped Katie find eggs.

The girls loved this in the front yard. They would always go sit on it before we went places.

Whenever we go home, it's always about having good breakfasts! I had eggs benedict quick a few mornings.
We saw Lianna and her kids a couple times and one of those times was at the Zoo!

Lianna's sister, April, works at the Zoo and had a couple animals to show the kids behind the scenes. Here is Dean, Abby and Delilah petting a Chinchilla.

The a bearcat was brought around and they got to put him.

Unfortunately Abby was more interested in picking flowers than the animals.

Abby and Delilah had so much fun together.
After about 4 1/2 hours, Abby had a meltdown and we knew it was time to go home. That's when I realized we weren't quite ready to spend a whole day at Disneyland. Maybe next trip!
I had the opportunity to go to the Temple one day. It was so beautiful that I couldn't help take a picture.
I was able to see my good friend, Stephanie, whom I have known since Kindergarden. It was so good to see her and talk about our lives since we hadn't seen each other for 11 years!
We also went to Old Poway Park and rode the train. Katie loved looking out the window and waving to all the people.

We took a lot of walks and the girls loved it. Abby rode a bike a couple times and loved being outside all the time.
Abby loved seeing the horses that would walk past us on the horse trail.
We were able to meet up with Christina and James one day. Too bad I couldn't get a good picture!

We had a yummy lunch and the kids loved playing together. It was chilly so we ended the playdate early instead of staying at the boardwalk. Christina is pregnant as well and we are expecting about a week apart! We are excited about having cousins the same age!
Abby loved jumping off the side of the spa and going completely under. She became very brave and thought she was so big because she could touch the bottom of the spa.

On the flight home, Abby entertained herself by fitting into the carry-on demo.
We had such a fun time in San Diego and can't wait to go back!
