Abigail Update

I just realized I haven't posted about what Abby has been up to lately and her LARGE personality. Here are a few pictures and videos of Abby doing her "thing" and looking so cute!

John and I thought, "Wow, it's really quiet." Now you can see why. Abby has her own little stash of toilet paper, tissues, wrappers, a clock, and more! She usually just grabs stuff and runs! And that girl can RUN! She is so fast that even I have to run to catch up to her.

Abby loves to climb into the car. I open my door and she climbs right in! Since this picture I have given her the talk about NOT drinking and driving.

I finally finished painting the living room today! Abby thought she would help with the tape. Here she is giving me a little grin.

The tape wasn't really that tasty. She had more fun unwinding the roll of tape than eating it.

Abby's new thing is to sit right ON TOP of you. It doesn't matter what part of your body she sits on. Today, she threw her leg over my face (hit me in the nose) and sat on my neck. Then she proceeded to bounce up and down.

Here is a little video of Abby bouncing on John. She loves it and you can see how they have the exact same hair color!

Abby loves to laugh. She loves to be lifted in the air and tickled like you'll see in this video. At the end of the video you'll hear her make a noise ("UH") that starts low then goes high. That means she wants more or wants what you have in your hands (she'll lift her hands up to you when she means that).

Abby is such a good communicator now. Here are some cues she gives me:

Hungry - says num, num or goes to the pantry or fridge, then once I've shown her what she wants she runs to her high chair to eat

Tired - goes to her crib, gets her blanket, then lies down on it

When I say "let's go" she knows to go to the garage because we are going somewhere in the car or stroller.

When I say "let's go outside" she knows to go to the front door because we are going to play in the front yard. If I'm longer than 2 seconds then Abby runs to find me and "guides" me to the door.

She waves at everything that passes by, even the garage door when it closes.

Abby throws the best fits by carefully falling to the ground and kicking her legs whether on her tummy or back. She's not picky.

Abby is too much fun!

Easter was...

so much fun! For the Easter Bunny and Abby. Here are some pictures of that fun day.

Abby immediately started running down the Jelly Bean trail to find her basket.I love how John is recording the ground and not Abby in this picture!

After finding her basket, Abby realized the Jelly Bean were edible! She spit them out after too long.

Abby loved the cars that came in her basket. She loves vrooming them up and down my arms.

Abby got pajamas and a cute little outfit as well as some candy and cars.

Abby loved putting things in and out of her basket. We were so lucky to have Grandma VanDerwerken in town to celebrate with us!

Christy's Half Marathon

My friends talked me into doing a half marathon on March 26th. I ran with Leilani Rogers, Esther Perrill, Tannie Smith and Kellie Bryson. We had so much fun! We tye-dyed white t-shirts to be the "purpeeps" aka "the purple people" a few nights before the race. The night before we stayed in the La Quinta downtown. We carbed up (on Tannie's brothers amazing Italian restaurant food!) and tried to go to bed early but 5 women in 1 hotel room does not equal early bedtime! So the next morning we all ate our breakfasts (they were doing protein bars and shakes while I ate my regular spaghetti meal) and drove to the airport parking where they were shuttling us to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. There we stretched and got all pumped up! Then we were off! We stayed together for most of the race and then ran our own paces for the last few miles. It was so much fun! I ran it in 2:28:48 which was 595 out of 2986. We had so much fun together that we decided we couldn't do another race without friends again! Here are some pictures:

Kellie and Tannie the night before

Esther and I couldn't be serious!

On the bus ride to the resort.

Right before the race! We are so excited!

After we all finished!

Esther and Tannie eating their lunches on the party/lunch hill.

There was a fun band playing and a nice river in the background.

We had to take a final picture with all the blue bonnets. We had so much fun!!!

Yard Work

John and I were doing yard work last Friday when Abby thought she would help us out. She kept trying to knock over the large brown yard bags and walking through the piles of leaves and dead grass. Finally she gave up and started playing in the dirt and eating it! She had so much fun. Here are some pictures of the little bitty.

The Phantom of the Opera!!

The Phantom of the Opera came to Austin! It was so much fun and amazing. We got a great deal and were in the 3rd row! I had to take a picture of the Phantom trailer because I learned that it takes 27 trailers to transport all the set backdrops and equipment. We were so close that the chandelier dropped straight on us before gliding onto the stage. If you haven't seen it, it's a must see!!

Nikko's Birthday Party

On March 6th we went to Nikko's Birthday Party. There was a Moonjump there so we had so much fun! Abby loved to crawl around and try to stand up although it was hard with all the big kids! Here are some fun pictures.

Even the moms had to go in. Here I am with Claudia and Esther getting ready to do a flip contest. I won of course!

There was a pinata as well. Even though Abby had some practice at her birthday party, she still isn't too skilled with a bat!

Abby enjoyed going down the slide!

She would even go to the windows to let Dad get some pictures of her.

When Abby was done she would just crawl right out and I would have to save her from flopping on the ground!

We had so much fun! Thank you for inviting us Nikko!

Toothbrush Lovin' Dare Devil

Every morning while I'm getting ready for work, Abby insists upon "brushing" her teeth. She even imitates the motions and smiles at me so proud that we are brushing our teeth together.

Abby is also quite the dare devil. She's always climbing on top of stuff just to get higher. She thought she was so big when I caught her standing on her walker. Yesterday she dove off the couch before I could catch her. Luckily her head broke her fall and we were fine after a few moments of tears. Then she was off looking for more ways to create mischief.
